Black Belt Clinic & Gasshuku Combined Every Other Year Beginning 2010
Thursday, 14th January 2010"Everyone had a great time reconnecting with one and other and working out together last weekend at Black Belt Clinic. We reverted to the old format of having a large group workout and meeting rather than the individual rank-specific seminars we've been doing in recent years. I wasn't sure how it would be received, but the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive!" -Nidaime
Due to the overwhelming response and feeling of togetherness from last weekend's Black Belt Clinic and Meeting, Kaicho and Nidaime made the decision to combine Gasshuku and Black Belt Clinic into one event beginning next year (2010) and every other year thereafter. This means, after this year, kyu belts will not have the opportunity to participate until 2011.
UPDATE!!! Gasshuku is open to ALL STUDENTS!!!
During the Branch Instructor Meeting on Saturday, June 6, one of the topics of discussion was that of the format of Black Belt Clinic. All agreed that the idea of all Black Belts (250+) getting together and working out was a great way to create energy and spend time together. However, it was also mentioned that many members appreciate the smaller rank-specific seminars which give them the opportunity to learn part of their syllabus directly from Kaicho and Nidaime. The question asked by Jun Shihan Michelle was, "Is there a way for us to have the smaller rank-specific clinics, yet still have the ability to work out as a larger group?". This was indeed a good question, but one that no one, including Kaicho and Nidaime had the answer for...until today.
By combining Gasshuku weekend (mid-July) with Black Belt Clinic & Meeting's format, we will have a full two and a half days worth of time to run individual rank seminars, group workouts, branch instructor meetings, and black belt promotion, while at the same time reconnecting and creating new friendships.
"This is a good chance for all black belts to get together and really train hard and recommit to each other and our training. I expect all Seido Black Belts worldwide to higlight this weekend on their calendar for 2010. It will be the best Black Belt Clinic and Meeting ever." -Kaicho
